Water is a Dancer (2023) was temporarily installed in a castle park Großharthau in Germany. The work consists of a structure over which water flows. By placing metal wire at various points in the water’s flow that measure the electrical resistance, values are extracted that are converted into sound by custom software programming. The rhythm of the water is translated into sound, and use e.g. sound sources from dance music (amen-break sampling). One interacts with the work by changing the water flow with the hands and thus controlling the soundscape. It feels good to control sound by water.
